The Drowsy Lads

Because of her Brazilian and American background it seems an odd fit to many who discover that she plays in a traditional Irish music band. However, she has shared a love of Irish music with her father who comes from a family tradition of Irish musicians. Elen began playing the violin at the age of 5 as means of distracting her from poisonous and dangerous animals. She played in a multitude of orchestras from ages 10 through 18 and in high school she played in a local rock band. Elen met The Drowsy Lads at a show they played at O’Reiley’s Pub during the winter of 2005. She danced and danced and danced until they allowed her to join the band. She has been dancing ever since! Elen’s playing is precise. She is a quick learner and the backbone of our melody sound. Elen is currently in Honduras working at an orphanage. Pray for her work there.
