We're super excited to be able to make the long and treacherous journey to Milwaukee, which is Algonquin for "The Good Land." I think one of the most interesting aspects about Milwaukee is that it's the only major American city to ever have elected three socialist mayors. Well, that and their GIANT Irish Festival. This is a don't miss if you are into Irish music!
We'll be playing 5 times that weekend, including providing music for their ceili dances, which are super fun if you've wanted to learn how to dance a step to Irish music. Beginners are welcomed and encouraged!
Check out their site for when we're playing!
Since 1981, Milwaukee Irish Fest has been dedicated to celebrating and sharing our rich Celtic heritage with the world. We are passionate about preserving the history and tradition of Irish, Irish American and Celtic cultures throughout Milwaukee Irish Fest and other programs all year long.
True to its mission statement: "To promote and celebrate all aspects of Irish culture and to instill in future generations an appreciation of Irish heritage," Irish Festivals, Inc. is much more than a festival. Outreach endeavors include an active foundation, several scholarship and grant opportunities, a summer school, school of music and the Irish Fest Choir. The Irish Fest Center also houses the John J. Ward Irish Music Archives.
